Its Would You Ever Guess Wednesday at Erica's Craft Room

Would You Ever Guess Wednesday is when we use cuts from cartridges that are not on the normal keys on the overlay We try to look at the other function keys. Today, I kind of messed up the theme a little. We could have done the normal WYEGW or do a floral arrangement in anything but a vase. I missed seeing the floral arrangement part of the assignment. I only remembered Home Decor. The tree is the only part of my project that matches the theme. So sorry!!!

Today I altered a wooden box that I actually had to dumpster dive to save! I know my co-workers thought I was really crazy but they helped me get it! The great part was, they dumpster was empty except for this box and it wasn't even yucky!! (If it had been...well, I think the box could have stayed there!!)

So, I started with this...I painted the edges that would show through the paper
And I ended with this!

Anyway, this box held a Kentucky Bourbon cake and the minute I saw the box, I knew I wanted to alter it and make it into something! I decided it would make a fantastic album box for pages devoted to telling the story of how we built our house. I have all the photos of the step by step progress and although we have lived here 8 years, I have yet to scrap any of them!

I used the Simple Stories papers. One set of Generations and one set of Destinations that I bought from Erica's store. (Here is the link to her store...you should check it out. She has some great prices! http://www.shop.ericascraftroom.com/ )

For the lid of the box, I cut a large circle from Plantin Schoolbook (11") and glued it in place. Next I found a house on the Create A Critter cartridge. (cut at 4"). The tree is from Art Philosophy and was cut at 6.50". I welded the words Our Home from the Billionaire Lite cartridge and they were cut at 2"

I had so much fun altering this box. I need to begin making pages telling the story of our home.

Welcome to My Cricut Craft Room's
100 Cricut Cartridge Blog Hop
You should have started at http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com/ if not please start at the beginning

If you came here from
Janet http://janetscreativeworld.blogspot.com then you are on the right track

The first project I decided to make is
a dishwasher magnet. I decided my guys needed a little hint for when they should put dishes IN the dishwasher and not in the sink. Knowing the dishes in the dishwasher are dirty should prompt them to do that right?

Recipe: Love You A Latte
Shape - 3.50"

Cup - 2.50"

Storybook - Font .50"

Next, I used my grandkids' Halloween photo from 2010 to create this layout.

Recipe: Autumn Celebrations
Ship - 4.50"

Letter Envy
K & T cut at 1.50"

Threading Water punch for the border layers
Core'dinations Chocolate paper for the ship. I loved this paper. Brown on one side and red on the other and I sanded it.

My Cricut Craft Room - Theme Thursday

Today is Theme Thursday on My Cricut Craft Room. The theme for today is Valentine cut outs. I decided I would make a home decor project to display on my mantel for February. Supplies included a 8 x 10 frame, printed paper, cardstock, some lace, some pearl bling, and a ribbon flower. I used the Sweethearts cartridge to cut the heart at 7.25 inches in Bazzil Bling cardstock. I also cut the shadow the same size in a tan and pink polka dot print paper. I inked the edges of the heart's shadow with some Tim Holtz's Distress Ink. I cut the word Love and the shadow at 3.50 inches. I layered all the pieces to the heart and then added Love to it. Next, I added pearl accents and the ribbon flower for interest and dimension. I had some wide lace laying around my craft room so after cutting my patterned paper to size and adhering it to a piece of chipboard, I added the lace for the background. I also took some kraft colored cord and a pink button and wrapped and tied them to the background. I used an inexpensive frame and the end result is a new home decor item for my fireplace mantel! I love how this turned out. It looks soft and romantic just like the Valentines holiday should be!

December 100 Cartridge Blog Hop Day Two

Good morning and welcome to Day 2 of the Erica's Craft Room 100 Cartridge Blog Hop. If you arrived at my blog from Rosa, then you are on the right track. If you just came to visit me, please start at the beginning with Erica's Craft Room so you dont miss all the wonderful things in day 2 of our hop. The line up with the web links is listed below.

I have been working every night to finish this advent calendar and I have two confessions to make. First and most importantly is that I borrowed this idea from Creations by Christina. I saw this last year and knew I wanted to make one. I even cut the page shapes out last year and ran out of time to make it. Second, with working and home responsibilities, I did not get it finished. I am up to page 12 and hope I get it done this week so I can display it. Get ready for a lot of photos and at the end, I will list which cartridges I used.

1 Poinsettia - Celebrate with Flourish
2 Reindeer - Jolly Holiday
3 Ornament - Winter Frolic
4 Elf - Jolly Holidays
5 Seasons Greetings - Winter Wonderland
6 Snowman - Speaking of Winter
7 Penguin - Simply Charmed
8 Wreath - Jolly Holidays
9 North Pole - Jolly Holidays
10 Gingerbread - Stretch Your Imagination
11 Christmas Wishes - Winter Frolic
12 Ribbons and Rosettes

All of the numbers came from Winter Woodland and the scalloped circles are from Mini Monograms. Your next stop is the fabulous Enjoli http://Mississippihippycrafts.blogspot.com/. If you get lost along the way, here is the entire line up:

Oh and before you go, I will be offering some blog candy which will include a white Signo Uniball pen that I use absolutely all the time! They are wonderful for all those little highlights I add to many of my projects! Please leave a comment and a way to reach me and I would love for you to follow too!!
