Target mailboxes for Valentines Day

I  always seem to be running behind these days.  Here it is two days before Valentines Day and I am just now trying to get something cute made for my grandkids.  Last night I decorated their little Target mailboxes using Create a Critter and Art Philosophy.  Tonight will be part two as I decide how to package them with the candy and other things we bought to give them as their Valentines treats.  Havent decided whether to use my craft bags and decorate them to match the mailboxes or use a clear plastic bag with a cute matching tag and lots of ribbons.  Hopefully I will post again tonight or tomorrow with Part Two!

Its Would You Ever Guess Wednesday at Erica's Craft Room

Would You Ever Guess Wednesday is when we use cuts from cartridges that are not on the normal keys on the overlay We try to look at the other function keys. Today, I kind of messed up the theme a little. We could have done the normal WYEGW or do a floral arrangement in anything but a vase. I missed seeing the floral arrangement part of the assignment. I only remembered Home Decor. The tree is the only part of my project that matches the theme. So sorry!!!

Today I altered a wooden box that I actually had to dumpster dive to save! I know my co-workers thought I was really crazy but they helped me get it! The great part was, they dumpster was empty except for this box and it wasn't even yucky!! (If it had been...well, I think the box could have stayed there!!)


So, I started with this...I painted the edges that would show through the paper
And I ended with this!



Anyway, this box held a Kentucky Bourbon cake and the minute I saw the box, I knew I wanted to alter it and make it into something! I decided it would make a fantastic album box for pages devoted to telling the story of how we built our house. I have all the photos of the step by step progress and although we have lived here 8 years, I have yet to scrap any of them!

I used the Simple Stories papers. One set of Generations and one set of Destinations that I bought from Erica's store. (Here is the link to her store...you should check it out. She has some great prices! http://www.shop.ericascraftroom.com/ )

For the lid of the box, I cut a large circle from Plantin Schoolbook (11") and glued it in place. Next I found a house on the Create A Critter cartridge. (cut at 4"). The tree is from Art Philosophy and was cut at 6.50". I welded the words Our Home from the Billionaire Lite cartridge and they were cut at 2"

I had so much fun altering this box. I need to begin making pages telling the story of our home.

Would You Ever Guess Wednesday - Ericas Craft Room

Today is Would You Ever Guess Wednesday. We had a choice for whether we wanted to do the normal WYEGW or to do a stamping technique. I chose to do the stamping for my card. I stamped the sun and clouds behind the bunny using some Stampavie Stamps that I have had for a long time. The little sun has a face on it but I masked that off so only the sun showed on my card. I also used the PK-754 Critter Faces set from Peachy Keen for the face. I did use a sentiment on my card also. The bunny was cut at 3" from Create A Critter (used my Gypsy to hide the face features before cutting). I used Easter 2010 for the grass and also used my Gypsy to make the height of the grass as .75" and I cut two layers and flipped one before gluing it to the card. The card base was cut from Art Philosophy at 4.25", the brown layer was cut at 4", and the white layer at 3.75".

This card is going to be sent to a fellow design team sister and she is going to add it to some baskets being made for a charity she started called Helping Hands that does Easter baskets, back to school packs, and Christmas stockings for the homeless shelters and poverty level homes. Scrapbook Friday with My Cricut Craft Room - Theme Baby Animals

Today's theme is baby animals and I chose to scrapbook photos of my son's boxer when she was a baby back in 2009. She is such a funny dog and is about 5 times bigger now than in these photos.

To create my page, I used Art Philosophy for the font and shape behind it and Create A Critter for the bone. I stitched around the page with my Janome sewing machine and used some twine around the bone.

Ok, are you ready to get started? I have three projects to show you today. The first one is a birthday card that I created for my great nephew’s birthday. He just turned 13 and he is on the track team. I used my Sports Mania cartridge to complete it. I began by choosing to make the background with my Cri-kits pens. Next I cut the runner out of chipboard and cardstock and cut it at 3 inches. The shirt was cut twice so I could pop it up to add dimension. The inside sentiment said “Hope you are on track to have your happiest birthday ever!”

My next project is one that I really loved! My niece shares her birthday with her 13 year old cousin for which I made the track card. She loves girly things so I found this wonderful pink zebra printed paper and zebra print ribbon at Hobby Lobby. I used Forever Young to cut the shoes out at 4 inches. I wanted to add some extra texture so I also created little tiny pinwheels to put on where the flowers normally go. To top it off, I added pink rhinestones. The sentiment on the inside said “Kick up your heels and have a great birthday!”

The last project is a layout of my Mom and Mother In Law that was taken this summer. I loved this photo so much. I still need to add a title to the layout so I would love to have some suggestions on what it should be. I used my Cricut American Alphabet that came pre-loaded on my E2 for the doilies behind the photo. The top note shape was cut using my Gypsy (because I wanted a silhouette and not a solid shape) and was cut at 6 inches from the Create A Critter cartridge. The cut little flowers came from the Cherry Limeade Lite cartridge and I cut them at 2.5 and 2 inches. I also ran them through my Cuttlebug and then sanded the cardstock so that the polka dots showed up better. I love the Core’dinations paper. It really works great in the Cricut! The leaves came from yet another cartridge which I forgot to write down (oops sorry!)

Scrapbook Saturdays - Puppy layout

Hi all! Its another Scrapbook Saturday at My Cricut Craft Room and today I have a favorite photo of my granddaughter on her 5th birthday. She was surprised with a new Yorkie puppy who she promptly named Charlie. It was the sweetest moment when she opened the box to find her new best friend inside. I love the saying "Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about puppies" and thought it fit this photo perfectly.

To create this layout, I used 3 different Cricut cartridges. Here are the cuts and sizes I used:

Stamping - shape for the sentiment. The outer blue was cut at 3" , the green layer was cut at 2.88 and the white oval was cut at 3 (used Gypsy to resize the layer and to hide contour for the white)

Create A Critter - Doghouse 2.00
Tree 3.00 (tree top was also embossed with a Cuttlebug folder)

Birthday Bash - Tag cut @ 4"

The double sided flowered / polka dot paper is Jillibean Soup. I loved this paper but they only had one piece left at Archivers. Border punches from Martha Stewart and EK Success accent the strip of Jillibean paper. I finally broke out my little Janome sewing machine and added zig zag stitching to the outside edge of my layout. One last little added touch was a butterfly brad that I won from someone's blog candy.

Easter Cards

I finally got into my newly organized craft room and created something. I recently had to move to the smaller bedroom and it caused me to have to purge a lot of stuff I never used. I think this room is so much easier to create in. I seem to be able to get to my supplies easier. Anyway, I made two versions of this card, one in pink for my granddaughter, Taylor and one in blue for my grandson, Kamdyn.

Here is the recipe for this card:
Bunny - Create a Critter cut at 3 1/2
Basket - Create a Critter cut at 1 1/2
Eggs - Easter 2010 cut at 3/4
Card base - Wild Card cut at 6
Polka dot paper on card base - George cut at 4 3/4
Tag for sentiment - Once Upon A Princess pink (blue) cut at 1 3/4 and white cut at 1 1/2

Gobble Til You Wobble

I just love the turkey on Create A Critter.  I used Coordinations paper from Joann's and cut him at 8 inches.  Gobble til you wobble was cut, welded, and shadowed (thanks Sassy Lady for the tutorial on doing the shadowing using my Gypsy) using Gypsy Font.  It was cut at one inch.

Home Decor for Fall

I am entering this in the weekly challenge on the Cricut Circle message board.  I used so many cartridges on this!!  Create a Critter for the apples, Walk in My Garden for the Sunflowers (plus brown Stickles on the center piece) Just Because Cards for the pears, Country Life for the wheat, B is for Boy on the Leaves, October 31 for the pumpkin, Calligrapy for the title.  I am going to frame it and put it in my kitchen!

Another Critter card!

My granddaughter Taylor had some little frogs in a cup a few weeks ago and was taking them home for pets.  I decided her 5th birthday card needed to have a frog on it and I chose Create A Critter for its cute little image.  I cut it @ 3 1/2 inches and used my Cuttlebug to add some texture.  I colored the eyes with my Signo Uniball white pen and then added Glossy Accents to the eyes. mouth, and cheeks.  The flower was cut using Sweet Treats and Peachy Keen stamps

Anniversary Card

Are you getting tired of the Create A Critter cards yet?  I made the squirrel for an anniversary card that I made DH.  I think he is really cute...squirrel and DH!

Thank Ewe cards

I made these cute little Thank Ewe cards to thank everyone who donated money to sponsor Jay and I for the Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis walk.  I was so proud of our team, Christie's Crew.  We raised $1,875 to help the fight for a cure for this disease which took our Christie from us in December.  (check other blog posts for photos from the the walk).

May 1, 2010 - Challenge for My Pink Stamper

This is a shape card I made using Tags Bags Boxes and More.  I am so happy!  I actually made this using my Design Studio for the first time welding two tags together to make the card!!  The little bird is from Create A Critter.  The papers are CTMH and the border at the bottom is a Martha Stewart punch.  I got the inspiration for this card from My Pink Stamper's blog.  She has such cute cards!  She made hers using the Gypsy and since I don't own one, I decided that today was the day that I finally was going to try to conquer the Design Studio!
