Congratulations card

After seeing the great swing cards that Joy has made over on the Obsessed with Scrapbooking blog, I decided to try one out tonight. I needed a card for my son who will be graduating from the police academy Friday. There are several great swing cards all ready to be cut out using Artiste. Mine was cut out exactly like the one on Joy's blog. I also made a matching envelope using my Envelope Punch Board. The whole project was done in way less time than it usually takes me! I plan on entering this card in the Die Cuttin Divas challenge on their blog too.

Hope you dont think I'm bugging you Thank you card

Threw together this cute little Thank You card using Create A Critter 2. Bug was cut at 3.5". The card shape is from Art Philosophy. I also made a cute little matching envelope using the Paper Studio yellow polka dot paper and my WRMK Envelope Punch!

Art Philosophy Topiary

I finally finished the topiary that I made for my mom. I thought this would cheer her. She loves flowers and I hope she will love this too. I cut the flowers using my Art Philosophy cartridge. The flowers were cut at 3 inches and then rolled and glued with my hot glue gun. I painted a styrofoam ball in the same dark burgundy color as the Core'dinations paper I used. I bought floral pins to attached the rolled flowers to the ball and then I hot glued the ball to a dowel rod and inserted it into some styrofoam that was also glued inside of the flower pot. I added some matching ribbon and a bow to top of the project.

Target mailboxes for Valentines Day

I  always seem to be running behind these days.  Here it is two days before Valentines Day and I am just now trying to get something cute made for my grandkids.  Last night I decorated their little Target mailboxes using Create a Critter and Art Philosophy.  Tonight will be part two as I decide how to package them with the candy and other things we bought to give them as their Valentines treats.  Havent decided whether to use my craft bags and decorate them to match the mailboxes or use a clear plastic bag with a cute matching tag and lots of ribbons.  Hopefully I will post again tonight or tomorrow with Part Two!

Happy Birthday Gift Bag

I just love making my own gift bags.  Tomorrow is my mom's 77th birthday.  I got out my Gypsy and cut some flowers from the Art Philosophy cartridge and then added the Happy Birthday phrase from Paper Lace.  The tag is also from Art Philosophy.  I kind of customized the sizes to fit my bag.  The flowers were cut at 3.50 (for the tag) and 4 inches.  The scalloped oval and the tag and the phrase were customized sizes.  I hope Mom has a wonderful day.  It very well may be our last to share with her so it will be bittersweet for us.  As I have posted before, Mom is in the end stages of breast cancer.  We spend our days working and caring for her.  I love the time I have gotten to spend with her.  I just wish she had been able to get out and go more so she could have enjoyed her remaining time.  She loves being outdoors but now it is so cold.  She loves shopping (mainly just going and looking around) but I am so afraid to take her with all the flu going around.  So basically we just sit and watch TV together.  Her gift from us is an MP3 player because she loves music too and I thought that might be something to help her fight the boredom of being housebound.

Today is Card Creating Tuesday and today I am posting the Mother's Day card I made for my mom.  I love how it turned out!! 

First I cut the base at 5.5 inches using the card function key on Art Philosophy.  The image is on page 51 in the handbook.  I also cut the printed yellow background using the regular key and it was cut at 5 inches. 

The two sunflowers were made using Walk In My Garden and I also used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.  The flowers were cut at 4 and 4.50 inches.  The flowers were also popped up from the card using foam squares.  The banner was stamped using a Peach Keen stamp and then I folded it and also added a foam square to make it stand out from the card.

Its Would You Ever Guess Wednesday.  Today is the day that we use our cartridges with only the extra function buttons and not the normal image cuts that you can see on the back of the Cricut cartridge boxes.  For my card, I used Paper Lace.  I had been wanting this cartridge for quite some time and finally got it!  I also used my trusty Art Philosophy cartridge to create the card shape and the front Happy Birthday printed paper layer.  The main sentiment and the shadow was cut using Paper Lace with the Lace 2 and Lace 2 Shadow feature keys.  The card base was cut at 5" and the layer was 4.75"  The sentiment was cut at 3.50 inches as was the shadow.

My Cricut Craft Room - Imagination Monday

It is Imagination Monday and today, we were able to make projects with the Letter Q.  I had plans to do something with my Quarter Note cartridge but did not get time to find the photos I wanted to use.  I wanted to make a little purse for my great niece  Her 4th birthday was Saturday and we bought her a cute Disney princess scooter.  She also loves flowers and digging in her mommy and Grammy's gardens so I bought her some cute little pink princess gardening gloves and some flower seeds to plant.  For the gift bag, I made a purse from Forever Young and resized it in my Gypsy so that it measured 17.0 x 6.08 (which cuts off the straps).  After putting the purse together, I took some cute pink grosgrain ribbon and made new straps.  Next, I added a little tag from Art Philosophy and cut it at 2.25".  I cut a crown from some glitter paper that I received from Erica.  I used the Indie Art cartridge and cut it at 2".  I attached the tag to the purse with some matching pink and white twine and added some white rhinestone bling. 

 How does all of this work for the theme letter of the day?  The purse was fit for a little Queen of the day, my cute great-niece Jordyn Grace!

Would You Ever Guess Wednesday - Ericas Craft Room

Hello!! Today for my design team post, I created something that we call a Would You Ever Guess Wednesday project. That means on Wednesdays, we make something from our cartridges that only uses the function buttons on the overlays. It means not using the main image shown for a button but one of the other images shown. We also can use a Cake cartridge to make a paper project.

I decided to use my go to cartridge, Art Philosophy for my card shape using the Card function button. This came from page 37 in the AP handbook. I cut it at 4.25" I also cut another card at 3.75" from the flowered paper and then cut at the score line to create the top layer for my card.

Next I chose to use the Cricut American Alphabet cartridge that came with my E2 to cut the sentiment Thank You. I also cut a shadow. Both of these cuts came from page 63 of the handbook and used the Font 3 and the Font 3 Shadow buttons.

To complete the card, I added some doodling with my white Signo Uniball pen and then added the crocheted butterfly. I ordered these handmade elements from a lady on the Cricut.com message board. She also made some cute flowers in assorted colors for me.

Ericas Craft Room Theme Thursday - Easter Eggs and Grass

This was the sketch and here is what I made with it!






My project today was inspired by Mary at Cardz TV. She made this cute little bunny on one of her videos and I thought my grandkids would love it too so I borrowed her idea and incorporated it into my card. I used Art Philosophy for the egg card shape. The card was cut at 5.50 inches. I also cut the green polka dot paper at the same size for the front of the card. The little fence was cut using Paper Doll Dress Up and I used my Gypsy to resize it to 5 x 1.75 inches. I still had to cut a little off of it after I glued it to my card. The bunny came from the Doodlecharms cartridge and is 2.50 inches. His face is from the Peachy Keen Critter set (PK-754). I added some white pen to accent his nose and the top it with some Glossy Accents to make it shiny. His little hands are just little circles cut at 1/2 inch using Plantin Schoolbook. The flowers were cut at 2 inches from the Art Philosophy cartridge. I also added some yellow Stickles to add some sparkle and color . The last finishing touch was a little twine tied around the egg shaped silhouette shape.

Its Would You Ever Guess Wednesday at Erica's Craft Room

Would You Ever Guess Wednesday is when we use cuts from cartridges that are not on the normal keys on the overlay We try to look at the other function keys. Today, I kind of messed up the theme a little. We could have done the normal WYEGW or do a floral arrangement in anything but a vase. I missed seeing the floral arrangement part of the assignment. I only remembered Home Decor. The tree is the only part of my project that matches the theme. So sorry!!!

Today I altered a wooden box that I actually had to dumpster dive to save! I know my co-workers thought I was really crazy but they helped me get it! The great part was, they dumpster was empty except for this box and it wasn't even yucky!! (If it had been...well, I think the box could have stayed there!!)


So, I started with this...I painted the edges that would show through the paper
And I ended with this!



Anyway, this box held a Kentucky Bourbon cake and the minute I saw the box, I knew I wanted to alter it and make it into something! I decided it would make a fantastic album box for pages devoted to telling the story of how we built our house. I have all the photos of the step by step progress and although we have lived here 8 years, I have yet to scrap any of them!

I used the Simple Stories papers. One set of Generations and one set of Destinations that I bought from Erica's store. (Here is the link to her store...you should check it out. She has some great prices! http://www.shop.ericascraftroom.com/ )

For the lid of the box, I cut a large circle from Plantin Schoolbook (11") and glued it in place. Next I found a house on the Create A Critter cartridge. (cut at 4"). The tree is from Art Philosophy and was cut at 6.50". I welded the words Our Home from the Billionaire Lite cartridge and they were cut at 2"

I had so much fun altering this box. I need to begin making pages telling the story of our home.

Would You Ever Guess Wednesday - Ericas Craft Room

Today is Would You Ever Guess Wednesday. We had a choice for whether we wanted to do the normal WYEGW or to do a stamping technique. I chose to do the stamping for my card. I stamped the sun and clouds behind the bunny using some Stampavie Stamps that I have had for a long time. The little sun has a face on it but I masked that off so only the sun showed on my card. I also used the PK-754 Critter Faces set from Peachy Keen for the face. I did use a sentiment on my card also. The bunny was cut at 3" from Create A Critter (used my Gypsy to hide the face features before cutting). I used Easter 2010 for the grass and also used my Gypsy to make the height of the grass as .75" and I cut two layers and flipped one before gluing it to the card. The card base was cut from Art Philosophy at 4.25", the brown layer was cut at 4", and the white layer at 3.75".

This card is going to be sent to a fellow design team sister and she is going to add it to some baskets being made for a charity she started called Helping Hands that does Easter baskets, back to school packs, and Christmas stockings for the homeless shelters and poverty level homes. Ericas Craft Room Theme Thursday

It seems like everyone on the design team signed up for today's post. The theme is Peachy Keen where we could have used our stamps on our projects or we could choose to use the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge. Well guess what???? I used BOTH!!!

I needed to make a birthday card for my great nephew Jaylon. His birthday is tomorrow March 2nd. As I paged through the cartridge booklet, the little fish with the fishing pole caught me eye. I remembered that I had a Pink By Design stamp that would be perfect with that cut. To create the card, I cut my base at 5" x 5". I had some cute little fishy paper from the Target dollar spot that I bought quite some time ago. I used it to decide the colors for my card. I began by cutting the background shape from Art Philosophy. I cut it at 4.00" and then cut the white inside shape slightly smaller.

Next, I cut the pole and fish at 3 inches. I used a Peachy Keen set to put the face on the fishy. I also used some orange and white twine to make the fishing line on the pole. Last, I used my PBD set called Simply Everything that I bought from Erica's online store. The sentiment says "Fishing You A Happy Birthday". I also used a Stampin Up Cuttlebug folder to emboss the fish's body.

Scrapbook Friday with My Cricut Craft Room - Theme Baby Animals

Today's theme is baby animals and I chose to scrapbook photos of my son's boxer when she was a baby back in 2009. She is such a funny dog and is about 5 times bigger now than in these photos.

To create my page, I used Art Philosophy for the font and shape behind it and Create A Critter for the bone. I stitched around the page with my Janome sewing machine and used some twine around the bone.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Wishing you all a wonderful day! Made this card for my hubby last night ( I know I am so far behind! He was home on vacation all last week so I couldn't sneak to make his card!) This one was made using Art Philosophy and Paisley. Art Philosophy Heart cut at 4 inches and the sentiment from Paisley cut at 1 inch in height.

Guest Designer on Anna Bee Designs

I was honored to be a guest designer over on Sweet Anna Bee Design's blog today. She asked for me to make a Valentine's Day card and so I actually made two! One for my grandson (elephant card) and one for my granddaughter (Kangaroo card). I started with a card sketch that I found on Tsunami Rose Designs http://tsunamirosedesigns.blogspot.com/2012/02/i-love-sketches-by-tsunami-rose-day-2.html I used Birthday Bash and cut the animals at 3.50" The shapes behind the animals were cut in two layers using Mini Monograms and Art Philosophy. Scrapbook Friday - Love, Food

TGIF!! Today's theme was Food and Love. In my continuing effort to create a recipe book of our family favorites, I decided to do another 6 x 6 recipe page. To create it, I chose my Animal Kingdom, my new Art Philosophy cartridge (which I seriously am in love with!!) and my Cuttlebug.
The chicken was cut at 4 inches. I used a woodgrain Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the chicken's body and the Swiss Dot folder for the wing. The frame around the recipe was made with the Art Philosophy cartridge. I actually changed the sizing on the frame so that it fit around the recipe that I typed out using my computer. I cut it 1t 3.5 x 4.75. I also used the deep cut blade and two chipboard layers and then also cut it out of tan Core'dinations cardstock. I ran the cardstock through the Cuttlebug using the Candy Cane Stripe folder and then glued all three layers together. I added some kraft and white colored twine as a finishing touch to the recipe card.
